Preparing for Success
Preparing for a juice fast is important. We do not want to shock our system so we need to start eliminating certain foods a few days leading up to our first fast day. You definitely want to eliminate junk food, sugar, alcohol, and caffeine immediately. The next three days will be a slow elimination of meat, dairy and grains. We have provided a few recipes to help you as well as meal suggestions. You can do this!!!
Start enhancing your experience right away! Feel free to add wheatgrass shots, herbal tinctures, hemp protein powder (for vigorous workouts) or psyllium husk (extra fibre) to your juices or waters. This gives them the extra boost you may need depending on your life circumstances. Keep this going thru your cleanse & while breaking it.
DAY 3 BEFORE CLEANSE - NO MORE JUNK
Cut it out... NO more junk food: chips, chocolates, soda, candies, carbonated drinks, artificial flavors or colours, gum, etc. Be conscious of it. Sugar is a huge staple in our diet and it causes a great amount of harm. Choose whole foods, nothing refined, fried, or processed, you are looking for whole foods only.
Caffeine is a hard one to kick for many so start weening it out early & slowly. Simply cut back now to relieve yourself of possible painful withdrawals.
EAT THIS: oatmeal, cereal, veggie wrap, veggie Panini, pasta, stir fry, green leafy salads, rice, quinoa, protein shake, soup, fruit salad, bean salad, nuts & seeds
DAY 2 BEFORE CLEASE - NO DAIRY NO MEAT
Today you will eliminate ALL DAIRY! That includes yogurt, milk, cheese, creamy sauces, etc. There are many substitutes for dairy products, I encourage you to try them at this time if this elimination is challenging.
No meats either - includes pepperettes, deli meat, fish, chicken, pork, beef. From this day forward you are a vegetarian.
EAT THIS: oatmeal, cereal, veggie wrap (with gluten free wrap), veggie Panini (with gluten free bread), pasta (with rice pasta), stir fry, rice, quinoa, salad, protein shake, soup, fruit salad, bean salad, vegetarian chili, nuts & seeds, coconut or almond yogurt, nut milks, nutritional yeast
DAY 1 BEFORE CLEANSE - NO GRAINS
At this point you will need to be creative! I encourage the use of Google to find recipes that appeal to your taste buds.
Today you are a raw foodie: raw fruits and veggies or lightly steamed, large green salads, etc. We are taking the burden off of the digestive tract, allowing our bodies to start the healing process.
EAT THIS: oatmeal, juice/smoothies, veggie wrap with collard green as the wrap, stir fry, salad, protein shake, soup, fruit salad, bean salad, vegetarian chili, nuts & seeds, coconut or almond yogurt, nut milks, nutritional yeast

During Your Cleanse
Drink as much or as little juice as you feel you need. Sometimes you may not like the flavors, do your best to drink it anyways - this is therapeutic. Having juice left over is great to drink while you break your fast. Most importantly if you open a jar, drink it out, the more the juice is exposed to air the faster it loses its nutritional value.
Add Herbal Teas such as dandelion root or nettle. These two herbs help cleanse the liver and kidneys. Vegetable broths can be drunk as well. If you find that you need something to munch on, don’t hesitate to modify the fast by adding fresh raw vegetables. We recommend cucumber slices or a half avocado.
Good to know info.
Fresh juice is powerful. The rush of nutrients received at a cellular level purifies rapidly. You may feel cold - even get the shivers after your juice. This is normal and we do advise you to dress in layers on fasting days.
Fruit juices are great for digging up the toxins while green juice are fabulous at detoxifying and flushing them out.
Juice combinations have a therapeutic effect on the body allowing us to cater to your specific health needs. All things in nature have healing powers, including you, amply for cleanse with direct focused intention.
We must master our egoism, and through this mastery, step outside ourselves and educate ourselves in giving. Fasting requires that we rediscover all that is alive around us, and reconcile ourselves with our environment.
The difference between cheating & honouring?
While fasting you may need something extra. If you experience exhaustion or brain fogginess you may just need and avocado to give you some extra calories, this is honouring your body. Choosing chips, chocolate bars or chicken is cheating.
Honour involves sticking to raw snacks- if and when needed. Cheating is choosing processed or cooked snacks, just because. Therefore not having control over your mind or body. This should be seen as an invitation to get real with yourself. Whats really going on here? Who is driving this ship? Fasting is a process, just do your best and be conscious of your choices, take it day by day. Always strive for your best.

Breaking it Right
Days One & Two Gently waking your digestive system these days are mainly liquid days; broth soups, smoothies (no dairy), fresh juice, herbal teas and water. You can also enjoy soft N juicy fruits and veggies, and light green (only) salads - dress with light olive oil & lemon.
These days are crucial as we are re-introducing solid food into the stomach and gut, which has slowed down its function dramatically during the fasting days.
Food Suggestions - grapes, cucumber slices, hummus, spinach, cherry tomatoes, banana ice cream, frozen berries with cinnamon, pureed or broth soups
Days Three Welcome Back Grains & Starch
night shade (starch) fruits and veggies. Quinoa, rice & oatmeal can become staples again. If using sugars use honey or maple syrup. You can now slowly start to introduce grains back into the diet. Start with gluten free grains such as rice, quinoa, millet, oats & buckwheat.

Day Four Welcome Back Dairy
You are now able to introduce dairy back into the diet however, it is recommended to omit it as much as possible. Our body does not produce the enzyme needed to break down dairy products therefor causing adverse affects such as constipation or diarrhea, cramping, gas, bloating, etc. It is best to choose a goat cheese if you are going to include it in the diet but if not, be sure to sprinkle lightly. Try to make the switch away from milk. Nut milks, rice milk or coconut are a much healthier choice.
Day Five Welcome Back Meat
Today you can introduce meat back into the diet. Please start with a white meat or fish for the next couple of days to avoid too much work for the digestive tract. Also, be sure to eat your meat source at your middle meal (lunch). This will ensure that digestion is taking place mid day rather than at night when our bodies should be preparing for rest.
Also welcome back caffeine, red meats, alcohol and sugars --> if you so choose.
Make your cleanse effective by breaking it properly - this is where the magic and benefits actually lie. Sure, the fasting part can be challenging but even more so can be slowly welcoming in foods. Taking it slow means preparation and constant reminders.
When you have been fasting for more than 2 days your digestive system stops peristalsis, because you have been receiving highly nutritious and bio available nutrients effortless your body will need a slow wake-up call to get this system working again. This is the PERFECT time to remove unwanted habits from your "regular diet" life and its also a great time to notice food sensitivities as you slowly welcome back different food groups. I highly recommend journaling the process so you can look back an note which foods effect you and how.
Think about how you would introduce foods to a new baby, breaking a fast is kinda the same. Make food combinations simple.
